Taught myself design. Studied engineering. Found my medium in leather.
I'm Desmond. I was born in Ghana, raised with an eye for design, and trained as an engineer. But it was leather that finally gave me a medium worthy of everything I'd learned.
In 2022 I taught myself leatherworking from scratch. No formal training. Just a vision, raw materials, and the same obsession with craft that drew me to design and engineering in the first place. Ninth Market was born out of that obsession.
Every piece I make starts with a question — what would this look like if it were done exactly right? The answer shows up in the leather I select, the stitching I place by hand, and the details most people never notice but always feel.
My daughter Eleanor arrived this year. The first bag I ever made — before she was born, before I knew what to call it — became the Ellie Mini Tote the moment she arrived. That felt right. The things we make with our hands carry the moments we make them in.
When you carry something from Ninth Market I want you to feel three things — the design, the aesthetic, and the quiet confidence of holding something made specifically for you.
